Peak performance and optimum health for your horse don't "just happen"! Your horse depends on you to provide the conditions needed for overall fitness and well-being. Keep him in top condition by paying attention to the following:

Good nutrition

adequate intake for age/breed/use of horse good quality feed

Preventive health care

vaccination against infectious equine diseases o encephalitis, including Eastern, Western, Venezuelan, West Nile o tetanus o rhinopneumonitis o influenza o strangles o rabies some vaccines may be needed more than once per year, depending on: o environment o travel with horse

Parasite control

internal - regular de-worming external o flies o lice o ticks o mosquitoes

Dental health

maintenance exam and treatment by veterinarian experienced in equine dentistry every 6-12 months check mouth weekly for sores palpate cheeks for sharp points check for symptoms of dental problems
